 Feeding Frenzy - Macro Pics
« Result #1 on Aug 14, 2009, 9:33pm »

I have noticed a huge difference in my indoor plants since I started to feed them fruitflies. I know several other growers have started to do this also with great results as well.

I decided to snap some pictures of the carnage after some plants were fed today.

 Pinguicula in PA
« Result #3 on Aug 5, 2009, 10:10am »

Hi all,

I am currently on a research stay in State College, PA. I´d like to knox if there is Pinguicula naturally occurring in PA, and if so, where I can find it.

regards,
Bastian

 Pine Barren Pics 2009 Trip
« Result #4 on Jul 14, 2009, 9:12pm »

This year’s Pine Barrens trip, like all the other years was a great success. It was fun meeting up with other growers I have not seen in some time.
The weather was perfect during the days. There was a major thunder storm that hit Saturday night directly overhead the camping area and most likely woke everyone up. If it did not they were dead!

Here are some pics from the Friday paddle.

Welcome to the forums.

I have always purchased my Cobra plants from Lowes.

I can not grow these outside here in PA. The hotter temps in the summer always cook the plants. I have even tried watering with refrigerated water. I only grow them indoors in a south facing window.
I have also noticed with my several attempts to grow this plant that they do not like to be water logged too long at all. (I do use a pretty airy mix of equal parts lava rock, perlite, LFS moss, and peat moss. I have also killed 2 plants by root rot when not careful in my watering.
This latest plant I have I'm growing in the same soil mix but in an orchid pot so the media will dry quicker. I should have no chance of root rot this way.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and I hope someone can advise me...

I have tried unsuccessfully to grow Darlingtonia for the past 2 years, although I seem to be getting better each time with the chilled distilled and/or rain water, humidity & air movement, etc. I'm on my third plant and this one has been alive for ~8 months now. Unfortunately, since the warmer weather arrived in the NJ area, the "cobra heads" have started to brown (the stalks & area nearer the roots are :) still nice and green). I'm wondering whether or not I should take the plant outdoors as it is not in a high light area. Also, thus far, my plants have been bought from Lowes. Would plants from a different supplier make a difference?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I am looking for whole plants, or cuttings cultivated from native PA plants. Preferably, D. Rotundifolia, and D. Intermedia or variations. Please let me know if anyone has any they can spare, and I can paypal what you want for them. Thanks, Joshua

Hi all, my names Josh, I'm 25. I live up in Saint Clair, Schuylkill county. I have been growing and collecting CP's since I was in grade school. Probably one of the few pre-teens to read some of the major CP books out there. Right now I am working on rebuilding my CP collection as I sold all of my plants a few years back. Just one lonely Sarracencia Purpurea I saved from Lowes for now but that will change, quick. Was wondering if anyone ever got up my way to do some exploring for CP's? I know of a few spots I am going to check out real good along the Schuylkill River. Locally on the mountain behind my house I have found Orchids, Indian Pipe plants, and Lady Slippers, but never any CP's. I have always been a collector and have never seen any in the wild actually. Well, I will be here participating on the forums abit. See everyone around!

Hey Steve,
What a great backpack trip! I love your Hennessy Hammock. Is this the first time you used it and would you give it a good review?

I wouldn't want to drive those "roads".

See you in a few weeks.
Gale
