Hi; My name's Nick,('bluesboy' on this and ICPS and Terra forum as well) and I've been growing CPs for about 11 years. I'm a Horticulture major at Temple.
Surprisingly, I am from South East PA! I don't think I could be a member of a closer cp society unless it was next to my house Anyway, I started with cps, and from there everywhere(orchids, cacti/succulents, perennials, vegetables, blah blah...)
I've been an ICPS member for 11 years as well, and am a member of their forum, and looking thru their website found this forum, so here I am. At one point I probably had about 300 plants, and was very involved exhibiting in the Philly Flower Show, but as focuses change, so do plants, etc. I've been quite good with the tough guys, ie: heliamphora, highland neps, etc. but as time goes by I'm getting more into conservation, and the idea of having a 'collection' is less important. Thus one of my hopes in joining this forum is because I'm breaking up my collection, I do not want to ship anything, and some things are really big! I would like to trade my collection towards my new focus, but I'll put that up on the trade section of the forum. Anyway, glad to be in plant people company, especially the carnivorous kind. Regards, Nick 'bluesboy'

Welcome aboard! Nice to meet a fellow horticulturist. What's your specialization? I was turf and ornamentals at Penn State.
You'll find many of us have several different plant interests. Currently I'm interested in CP's, orchids, Cryptocorynes, Lagenandras, Crinums, and minor bulbs.
Cheers. Jim

Hi! I'm Emmy from south carolina. I'm 27 and a fulltime college student. I got into CPs accidentally when I saved a very unhappy looking N. ventrata from the grocery store last week. I had no clue what it was til i found this site and elgecko's personal site (thanx by the way- big help). So now I'm hooked lol. Just so happens I have a sun room, south facing extra bedroom, and a pile of extra herp stuff (tanks and lighting, etc). hmmmmm what to do....... I would love some suggestions since I'm starting from scratch:)

Hello all I am a retired biology teacher living in Clairton, PA which is 17 miles south of Pittsburgh(Go Steelers) on a bluff above the Monongahela River. Now growing about 50 carnivorous plants. Am a docent at our local Phipps conservatory and a inverterate gardener. Would like to know if anyone has information on a source of Utricularia menzieii as I am very interested in tuberous bladderworts. And also if anyone has any information on growing it. Len Lehman

Hello all, my name is Andrew and I live in the Hanover, PA area. about and hour South of Steve. I have grown CPs off and on for several years and have had some overwintering temperates outdoors for the last 7 or so. My collection now is modest, consisting of a few Sarracenias, Pings, Drosera, and Dionaea. I have grown Nepenthes and hope to try few lowlanders this Summer and some Highlanders indoors. I have also grown many tropicals, orchids, and aquatic plants, from citrus to native woodland plants. I like to design natural plantings and carry that into designing indoor habitats for my pets as well. I have a few tarantulas, some bearded dragons, a leopard gecko, and 2 pooches. I used to have many more and have kept everything from Anoles, true Chameleons, and Iguanas, to birds, frogs, insects, and snakes. Currently plants and arachnids are about the extent of what I have time for, so I am focusing on growing or regrowing those collections.
I have also seen a lot of natural bogs in MD, such as Suitland, Eagle Hill, Cranesville, Cedarville, and one in Waldorf. I can sometimes be found on gardenweb under the screen id lemonsforchams.

Blondeboi, Welcome to the group. I live near Spring Grove and have been growing CPs on and off since the 70s. Would you please describe how you overwinter your temperates outdoors? Like Steve I carry mine indoors and store them in my cool basement over Winter. Thanks, Gale
